WHO WE ARE & WHAT WE DO

The Berlin-based Andres Family GmbH is a collective of creatives managed by Pascal Andres & Erik Rülicke, with close & extended family members such as Hans Przybilla and Alexandre Weber Martins. We are writers, entrepreneurs, directors, actors, marketeers, producers, musicians, and most importantly; we are human beings. With a track record of hundreds of successful film, music, TV, commercial & theatre productions between us, ranging from student shorts to Hollywood feature films, from social media content to multi-national TV campaigns, we are now dedicated to a cause we believe in, by creating moving pictures (pun always intended).

We strive to marry art & entertainment, following in the footsteps of the great storytellers of the past while working like a data driven startup from the future. Why? Because we believe stories have the power to inspire beauty in the world, and we want to help build a future of utopian solarpunk, rather than dystopian cyberpunk. Have fun exploring our most immediate film projects.

An artist oblivious to his schizophrenic tendencies, a ballet dancer struggling with the competitiveness of a conservative industry, a musician in turmoil over being a good big brother while battling depression. 3 stories inspired by the real people of the city. A story about love, loss and the pursuit of happiness.

After the fall of the Iron Curtain, 90s Berlin became a Wild West for anarchists, opportunists and party-goers. “Tacheles”, the “Love Parade” and techno music made global headlines, and the art scene was thriving. And yet, there were also the post-war torn parts of the city, which did not make the news. “The Berlin Project” (placeholder title for the real, undisclosed title) is an homage to the different faces of the city, whether it be avant-garde Mitte, the nightlife of Kreuzberg or the working class of Wedding.

Featuring an internationally renowned cast & crew, an eclectic array of music ranging from piano hymns by Billy Joel, to electro music by Massive Attack, all embedded within Andres Family originals of live rock music with sweat, sex and distorted guitars, “The Berlin Project” uses this setting of 90s Berlin to in fact tell a story about the things that truly matter in life.

STATUS: DEVELOPMENT

“A long time ago, when humans were yet simple hunter-gatherers and the world was filled with fantastic beasts, there once was a boy who would challenge the will of the Gods to save his little brother from the afterlife.”

“The Afterworld Project” (placeholder title for the real, undisclosed title) is a dark fairy tale for adolescents about death and the meaning of life, following in the footsteps of the philosophically themed German fantasy classic “The Neverending Story”, combined with a dark “Princess Mononoke”-style setting, and the audiovisual feel of Disney’s 2016 remake of “The Jungle Book.”

Utilizing intercultural and intergenerational symbolism from various spiritual archetypes, as well as parallels to our factual history, “The Afterworld Project” implies the common heritage we came from, and a common root for most of humankind’s beliefs. It portraits the natural paradise we came from, which humankind would later lose to the greed of our industrialization. It portraits a “hippie” utopia, which the characters in our story are blissfully unaware of. For the lack of comparison, they are ignorant to the steps they are taking which would lead us to this modern day, industrialized, capitalized age of concrete, steel and radiation.

Rural 18th century Finland, battle playground for the Swedes and the Russians. The impoverished Finns suffer pillaging, hunger and decimations from both opposing foreign powers. Caught between two frontiers, one hunted outlaw, his wife and an outcast family of dwarfs would risk their lives to make the children of a traumatized generation smile again. He will become a symbol of merriment that we celebrate even to this day.
